When 16 I was a quartermaster and deckhands for Black Ball Lines between Anacortes, the San Juans and Sidney (Victoria) BC on Vancouver Island.  In those days Sidney was a community of a few thousand and the ferry terminal was a small wooden wharf.

Black Ball was later acquired by the Washington State ferry system.

Sidney is now one of the finest marina’s we have in the NW and Canada with amenities for the boater not found elsewhere.   A “must visit!”
