ENDEAVOR ODESSY ~ ROCHE HARBOR, SAN JUAN ISLAND, WASHINGTON ~ 08.09.01

Roche Harbor, San Juan Island
It’s not the friendly little resort like the old days – when the Tortes were owners – when there was one main dock – when they didn’t give you the Latitude and Longitude and tell us to find our berth by GPS – when the Harbor Master and his crew knew where North is (every boy scout knew that moss grew on the north side of trees, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, etc. |

From Endeavor we are looking across the harbor, to the inlets to the harbor from the North at Spiden Island – the most northwesterly point in the U.S and the jumping-off place to Canada. |

It’s been a few years since we were here. The Tartes who owned this property sold to another developer. Every inch has been tastefully but closely crammed as much as humanly possible (and permitted) into this harbor. |

Our guests were exploring the chapel while Marge and I selected spots “to take the weight off!”
Henry Island in the background.
Notice the separation on the bench! The lady on the left was on the phone the whole time we were there and Marge is trying to be unobtrusive. |
